An aspiring journalist living in Des Moines, I’m a rising junior at Drake University studying magazine media, public relations and English. My passion for telling stories and leading a team is what brought me to Drake, and in the past two years I have immersed myself in the Des Moines community. On this website, you will find published works I’ve created for various publications, a personal blog focused on self care, and my resume.
I currently work as a communications intern for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. In this role, I write blog posts for the Take it Outside blog, craft timely news releases and create content for the DNR’s website. I also help the DNR plan for their centennial anniversary by promoting events for state parks.
On campus, I serve as the managing editor for Drake Mag, Drake’s student-produced and award-winning magazine. I write and edit numerous articles for this publication pertaining to food and drink, music and entertainment, health and sex, and more. Next year, I will serve as the Editor-in-Chief of Drake Mag, and I’m eager to bring this publication continued success by leading this team.
In my (little) free time, I enjoy participating as a member of Drake’s Alpha Phi Fraternity chapter. In this sorority, I serve as the director of academics where I help facilitate chapter discussions on academics and help members boost their grades. Lastly, I am a reading tutor for elementary aged children at a local Des Moines elementary school.
Aside from my professional persona, I am an avid shopper and enjoy listening to music, traveling with friends, exploring new coffee shops and being lazy whenever I can. I’m passionate about my work in and out of school, but to keep my sanity I hangout with friends whenever possible. I have enjoyed living in Des Moines the past two years, and I’m always looking for more ways to get involved within my community.
